Friends for Life has an excellent free library of resources which befrienders can use during their visits. The library has been developed specifically for older people and for those with dementia. All items have been chosen to encourage and support meaningful conversations.
Amongst other things, the library includes large pictures to share books, large piece jigsaws, reminiscence packs and aquapainting sets.
The library is kept at St, Mark’s Church Community Centre in Brickhill, which is open weekdays from 9am until 5pm.

Here are what some of our befriender’s have to say about the resources they have borrowed:
“The resident I visit, can’t get enough of the large piece jigsaws – particularly the one that creates a picture of a steam train. The aquapaint kits are also perfect for my resident as he has poor fine motor skills.”
“The pictures in the Pictures to Share books are so vivid and have really helped me feel confident in making conversation with the lady I visit. She used to really enjoy gardening and was very taken with the ‘In the Garden’ picture book.”
